This document details important Terms and Conditions relating to your product. Your enjoyment of it will also be optimised if you read and follow these instructions.
Are the Tables and Chairs Compatible? You may freely mix and match any style chair with any shape table. If the products you are buying need to fit into an ‘exact area’, consideration must be given to the style of chair/chairs required as well as the size and shape of the table.
Which Parasol is Best? Given the intended location, parasols can be placed in the middle of a table or freestanding offset to one side (with the use of a parasol base), dependant on shade requirements. You will invariably attain more shade for a dining set if the parasol is offset to one side. Both the round and rectangular parasols compliment the oval tables in our range. Equally, a square parasol can be just as effective with rectangular tables. The Cotswold Teak parasol range now features solid teak frames, designed to compliment our fine teak furniture. It is important to note that the larger rectangular parasols (3x2m & larger) do not close down completely when positioned in a table. The ribs of these parasols are too long and they come to rest on the outer edge of the table when the canopy is lowered.
Do You Stock Cushions to go with my furniture? Cotswold Teak offers a complete range of cushions to complement all the furniture styles available. The fabric used for our Classic Collection is a tough and durable Marine Acrylic or Draylon, UV resistant and will not rot. The cushions are shower proof but we recommend that they be brought in during heavy rain. The standard acrylic cushions have removable covers with waterproof zips and are filled with high-density rubber foam that will maintain their tailored shape.

Can You Provide Plaques or Hand Carving? We can provide an inscription service, most commonly used for benches and seats (Please note that some of our benches cannot be engraved). It can be either Hand Carved straight into the furniture, normally on the top rail, or a metal plaque can be engraved and screwed onto the desired position. The metal plaques are most commonly made from brass & lacquered or we have a stainless steel version or a cast version. Please see Plaques
Why is Teak furniture generally more expensive than other hardwood furniture? There are a number of cheaper hardwoods used for outdoor furniture and all of them are inferior to teak. Iroko is the most common of these woods but it does not have the same life expectancy as teak, let alone the same touch, feel or aesthetic quality. Teak furniture is not expensive when you relate the cost to its life expectancy. Remember , you are not comparing like with like when you compare teak with any other wood.
It is a strange anomaly that despite the fact it is built to endure decades outside in harsh weather our furniture is less expensive than some quality indoor chairs and tables.
Are less expensive items in the range as good quality as the more expensive? Generally price is dictated by the shape and weight of a piece of furniture. The more shaping involved in creating a piece the greater the cost will be. Also the heavier the sections of wood used means more weight and thus more cost. No matter which piece of Cotswold Teak furniture you choose, you can be assured that the same quality teak and standard of workmanship is used along with the same methods of manufacture and assembly.
Is the furniture guaranteed? We offer two guarantees: -
(a) If you are dissatisfied with your order on delivery, we will replace it as soon as possible or refund your money in full.( you must advise us of your dissatisfaction within 48 hours from delivery)
(b) In the unlikely event there is a structural failure or design fault we will replace on a like for like basis or refund your money in full subject to sight of the original invoice. This applies for a period of up to 9 months from the date of delivery
Why Teak? Our Teak Furniture is made from “A” grade teak, which is one of the world's most valuable timbers providing durability and stability under extreme climatic conditions. Teak is the first choice for boat builders with its unique blend of grain and distinctive colour. These qualities combined with good workmanship produce the finest garden furniture in the world, which will last for a very long time.
Can I Leave My Furniture Outside all Year? Natural teak if left outdoors will gradually weather to a silver grey colour. This would probably take 6 to 9 months depending on the amount of sun and rain it has been subjected to. Small cracks (known as checking) may appear; this is a characteristic of all hardwood timbers and will not affect the strength or durability of the furniture.
Checking is due to changes in the seasons and the wood releasing or drawing moisture from the atmosphere. Checking is not to be considered as a defect.
What Do I treat My Teak Furniture With? See maintenance
Where Does Your Teak Come From? Our source of teak is mainly from the plantations on the island of Java. The Dutch, who were the colonial power at that time, started these plantations about one hundred and fifty years ago. The plantations are now owned and managed by the Indonesian government agency, which is responsible for managing a strict policy regarding the size and quantity of trees felled each year together with annual replanting.
Are Brass Bolts Used? Some of our furniture does contain brass bolts which can be kept shiny by using fine wire-wool on them
How is my furniture constructed? The majority of our furniture is built with mortise and tenon joints, which are then Teak dowelled and glued making them strong and durable. The thickness of the teak is generally much greater than other hardwoods making our products even more robust.
Do I need to store my furniture during the winter? No, Teak furniture can be left outdoors all year round. If you choose to cover your furniture outdoors during the winter then you should use a material that allows the wood to breathe. We recommend you do not use plastic. See our Covers
Does your furniture require assembly? Some pieces are supplied fully assembled whilst others will need minor assembly, in which case instructions are given inside.
